Coursera: English Advanced C1 Module 3

Hello folks, and welcome back to my blog, my name is Fachry putranto sukarmin. Today I’m continuing my Coursera journey by talking about my experience in Week 3 of the English Advanced C1 course. This week came with a new theme and new challenges, so here’s how my third module went.

In the third module, the course focused on clothes, fast fashion, and the environmental issues connected to the fashion industry. The main goals for this week were to use collocations related to the environment, learn expressions about money, and use different future tenses to talk about plans, assumptions, and predictions. The module also emphasized identifying implied messages and using social media to raise awareness of social issues.

Throughout the week, I completed a mix of videos, readings, and graded practice tasks. The module began with the introductory video Making a Difference, followed by the Video Language assignment where I scored 80%. The vocabulary and grammar sections introduced collocations, money-related expressions, and future tense structures, with my scores being 80% for vocabulary practice and 100% for grammar practice. I also completed expressive language, pronunciation, and extra practice tasks, earning high scores across all of them.

The middle of the module covered practical topics related to clothing and sustainability, such as Writing an Email, Wash Care Labels on Clothes, Wardrobe Audit, and Selling a Garment. There were also readings on global varieties of English and environmental language, followed by skills practice in reading, watching, listening, speaking, and creating social media posts. I received full marks for the listening task and completed several discussion prompts along the way.

The week finished with the graded assignment End of Week 3, Making a Difference, where I scored 90%. Overall, this module helped me improve my fluency when discussing environmental issues, strengthened my understanding of future tenses, and gave me more awareness of how fashion impacts the world around us.

Here are some example of task and my score.
